Development

Trinagon puzzles can be set up on any shape, that consists of more-or-less equilateral triangles.

The Polyhedra puzzles were the goal of the idea of trinagon. The hexagon only served as a leraning platform, and did surprise us nevertheless.
With the polyhedra playgrounds, many intricacies of the game become visible. They are facets of difficulties that woul also be seen in a 'simple' rubiks cube.
Trinagon played on 3D shapes will often mix different symetries, or at least have odd symetries.
This already remarkably changes the puzzles mathematical design !

Naturally the regular and convex shapes are the first that come to mind and the first that will be explored.

New 3D shapes are released as the game grows ! at present there are 16 playgrounds :
    • 12 convex shapes
    • 2 flat 2dimensional hexagons
    • and 2 folded planes.
these 2 can also be seen as parts of bigger shapes. One of them is strictly convex, the other is not.

A few examples of the playgrounds :
    The Icosahedron :

    Icosahedron

    RhombicDodecahedron :

    RoDoPuzzle1

The Icosahedron is completely regular, while the Rhombic Dodecahedron short 'RoDo'  (or its approximation here) is not. The Rodo therefore has gaps between the triangles and the symmetry lines, which does not interfere with gameplay. Playgrounds with bigger gaps between the edges and the triangles than 5° (i.e. bigger than in the 'Rodo') will not be used in the near future.
There are quite a lot of polyhedra that will be great to build the game on !

    Tetrahedron (4 triangles) :
    tetrahedron small

and the Octahedron (8 triangles) :

    octahedron small

The small polyhedra (Tetra, Octa - hedra) have fewer triangles, and fewer patterns are possible.

The gamemode will therefore include randomized puzzles. Like the rubiks cube : you mix up the original and find your way back.

These small puzzles are actually rather difficult. Playing them almost feels like you're mixing it up more than solving it .. Just like making a mistake in the last few steps of solving the rubiks cube.
For example playing the tetrahedron, with every move you're changing 3 out of 4 existing triangles. You'll need to basically solve two positions parallel, and plan ahead on two closely linked tracks.
Apllied symmetry - rules and really thinking (what if ..) ahead is needed. Queueing doesn't work anymore.

Version 2.040 and all before :
The sharing functionality has a bug when trying to post to Instagram :

    • On Android : the picture will not open. You'll have to make a screenshot until the next update.
    • On IOS : the text editor to share with your picture does not open correctly.  Text can only be pasted in

Web GL Play : Sharing and Copying moves is not possible. This is because of an intentional limitation for security reasons in browsers. In a full Trinagon browser game, we'll look for different ways to achieve the same goal.

Trinagon 3D & 3Df  - Update Log :   Always look for new updates ! or allow autoupdates. The game is improved on a regular basis. New puzzles added, new functionality, the occasional bug squashed .. etc.

Version 2.042 (not yet released) :
    * unified 'Settings' menu instead of the two 'Ambience' & 'Controls' menus

Version 2.041 : More puzzles, minor adjustments.

As of Version 2.041 the 3Df edition has been unpublished.
For a truly free edition there is too much effort involved to keep it going.  The paid edition will become a free version with an in-app-purchase option instead.

Version 2.039 : End Dezember 2019 : (to be released)
    * upgradable version. So far it was not necessary to restore player achievements. Now it is :). The game now loads your previous scores and solutions into every new update.
    * more puzzles : 422 !

    Version 2.038 dezember 2019 :
    * Player rankings improved ..
    * improved functionality of the menu.
    * bug fix : hexS puzzle #10 was missing it's solution.

    Version 2.035 :
    * Added the Octahedron 2x2 Rubik's cube series.
    * Added The Doedekahedron Bowl. A new playground. small and challenging. Only 2 puzzles made on this one, 2 of which are on the harder side.
    - So now there are 16 Playgrounds. Puzzles are added on many occasions. There is some fun in making them too :)
    * The free edition has been reduced to less puzzles and playgrounds. It should be there to get an idea of the game, which these 15 puzzles plus the spin tutorial are doing.
    * hopefully didn't add any bugs :):)

Version 2.034 With this edition the game has finally reached its first destination !
Its fully 3D with currently 15 playgrounds -  12 Convex, 1 concave, and 2 flat.
The free edition had 50 puzzles, but you can only reach level 3, which makes it 35 free puzzles. The Spin Tutorial adds another 6. I wonder if that's too many :) ?
The higher level puzzles can be seen in the menu.

There are too many added features and details to describe them all, but this site will show you. Enjoy.

    Fixed tutorials bug :
Desription " Both puzzle tutorials i.e. the Puzzle & Spin Tutorial do not finish properly.
When you reach the end the buttons do not work correctly.
Until the next release, just close the menu when you've gone through the tutorial."
